Remove Events, News, Links (and anything else you want) from the Navigation Menu

Are you tired of seeing all the events and news items that you create show up in the navigation menu? Well here is a very short how-to to fix that permanently!

There are two ways to keep items from showing up on the navigation menu.  The first is on each individual item, you can click on the properties tab and select "Exclude from Navigation".  This is great for individual items, but what if you don't want to show ANY news items or events in the navigation.  EASY!

You must login with Manager access.   If you don't have "Site Setup" in the upper-right corner of your site when logged in, then you don't have manager access.  Contact your regional Plinkit coordinator for setup help.

  1. Log in to your site with an account with Manager Access.
  2. Select "site setup" in the upper-right corner of your site.
  3. Select "Navigation Settings"
  4. Scroll down to the section "Displayed content types".
  5. Deselect the items that you don't want to ever show up in the navigation menu.  I deselected 'News Item', 'Event', and 'Link'; but you can deselect any that you deem necessary.
  6. Scroll down and click 'save'.
  7. Click on your site logo to return to your homepage.
  8. Remember to log out of your Manager account for all other basic editing changes.
